Red Velvet Churros-bakeitout
Hello! here I am with another red velvet recipe nothing but red velvet churros.Homemade churros are the best treat for our taste buds with a twist with red velvet flavor filled with cream cheese. So lets get started....
INGREDIENTS:
-2 cups water
-¼ cup granulated sugar
-4 tbsp unsalted butter
-1 cup all-purpose flour
-1 cup red velvet cake mix
-2 eggs
-Oil, for frying
-½ cup sugar
-1 tsp ground cinnamon
-8 ounces cream cheese, softened
-½ cup powdered sugar
-1 tsp vanilla extract
PROCEDURE:
-In water add sugar, and butter and bring it to boil.
-Add flour and the cake mix and stir vigorously. Remove from heat and add the eggs, stirring until the dough becomes a ball(be careful that the batter isn't too hot that your eggs may get scrambled/cooked).
-Transfer dough to a piping bag with a star tip. Pipe three to four inches strips of the dough on a baking sheet.
-Freeze for min 30 minutes. Heat the oil. Fry the red velvet churros for about three to four minutes(oil should be hot for frying), then remove and drain on paper towels.
-Using a straw, poke a hole through the centers of the churros to hollow out a cavity for the filling. On a plate, combine the cinnamon and the sugar and mix until it is a uniform color.
Roll the churros in the cinnamon sugar(this is optional if you don't like the flavor of cinnamon you can skip this step or only use sugar).
-In a medium bowl, combine the cream cheese, powdered sugar and vanilla, stirring until smooth and creamy.
-Transfer filling into a piping bag and pipe the filling into the churros. Serve and enjoy!
